New Year!

On New Year's Day, Jon and I journeyed down to DC after dark to see the National Christmas Tree and the Capital Christmas Tree. We decided to got to the Capital Building first and then walk up to the White House because it was so warm, it almost felt like Spring! We went to the Capital Building and saw the Capital Christmas Tree. This year's tree was a Engelmann spruce from Wyoming. It was 67 feet tall. I had a hard time getting all of the tree in some of my pictures. The ornaments were made by students in Wyoming. Jon went around the tree and tried to see every ornament. He was looking for one from Worland but we mostly saw Sheridan. We did see one from Green River.

After taking a bunch of pictures of us in front of the tree with the Capital behind us, we started off to the White House. It isn't that long of a walk. We came up to the ellipse and it was kind of crowded. There were a lot more people there than were at the Capital Tree. We walked around and looked at all the State trees and took a bunch of pictures of the National Tree, too. They also had the model trains running around the base of the tree. They had some really neat trains and bridges. Thomas was there too. Some had fallen off the track and that kind of made me sad. Eventually, We decided to head home. So that was our New Year's day!
