Road Trip to the Beach
I had Easter Weekend off so we decided to go to Virginia Beach. We headed east across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. At Salisbury, we headed south to Virginia. We traveled along the Virginian Eastern Shore to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. The bridge and tunnel is very cool. Its about 25 miles that stretches across the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. It is a bridge-tunnel because the ships pass through the tunnel areas. Nearing the end of the bridge-tunnel system is South Tumble Island. We stopped on the island and walked out on the fishing pier. At the end of the pier, underneath, there were several dead rays. It was sad to see. There was a sailboat on the rocks that looked like the sailors just got out to visit the store. We later learned that it crashed, run aground and the sailors were taken to the hospital. It was on the news.
We went into Virginia Beach and drove right down to the boardwalk. We parked and walked down to the beach. Jon and I walked along the beach for awhile and Cheryl laid on the beach. I went into the water up to my thighs but it was soooo cold! There were a bunch of people surfing but they were mostly wearing wet suits. We walked back to Cheryl and laid on the blanket in the sun for awhile. She went and took pictures. We started to get hungry so we headed back to the car. Jon booked us a room on his phone and we went to a BBQ joint for dinner. It was pretty good.
We went to the Lynnhaven JC Penney and I purchased a swimsuit. We then went to our hotel for the night.
